The 10th Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI). Hosted by SAI Istanbul-Turkey, May 22-26, 2017.

AFROSAI was invited by Mr. Seyit Ahmet Bas, President of the Turkish Court of Accounts to participate in the 10th Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI).  Hosted by SAI Turkey, in the historic and beautiful city of Istanbul, the meeting was held between May 22-26, 2017.

The theme of the Congress was “Implementation of ISSAIs: Challenges and Solutions”. It witnessed the participation of 18 officials made up of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions in Europe and their delegates, representatives of regional Organizations of INTOSAI and local stakeholders involved in the management of public funds and those concerned with Good Financial Governance. Mrs. Ngoujou Prudence, Mr. Onya Valentine, Managers, serving in the General Secretariat based in Yaounde, Cameroon and Mr. Ahmadou Lamine Kebe, working in the Secretariat of the Institutional Capacity Building Committee, hosted by SAI Senegal, represented AFROSAI.

Apart from actively taking part in training sessions and events of the Congress, members of the General Secretariat AFROSAI took the opportunity to hold a working session with members of the EUROSAI Secretariat. It was an occasion for the both Secretariats to discuss and fine-tune activities in a work plan proposed to enhance a Protocol Agreement agreed upon by the two Regional Organizations, in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2014. At the end of the Congress the following resolutions were adopted amongst several others:

-           Implementation of ISSAIs should be done in consonance with the legal framework of each country;

-           Use of new audit tools that respond to the needs of SAIs;

-          Sharing knowledge and experience between member SAIs

 

The 11th Congress of the EUROSAI is built for the Czech Republic whose mandate as President of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions begins in 2020.
